Thank you Robina, they do have amazing hearing. I have tried a number of times on the Thurne marshes but cannot get them close enough. Strumpshaw is a good spot for the best opportunity I find.

It was too dark Liz. I believe the best time is at dusk when they do their flying bit before settling in the reed bed. This was early and it was over in seconds, they dispersed into small groups and disappeared.
