These images were taken on 18/03/17 near Ringstead of a female marsh harrier attempting to attack an adult hare, but much to the suprise of the harrier, the hare fought back by jumping up at the harrier and trying to 'box' with it. The harrier gave up after ten minutes and left the hares in peace. Sorry for the poor quality of the images, but the subjects were 200 metres from me.

Great set Tabs. How interesting. Glad the hare survived!
Kind regards

Unusual and quite hair raising to watch I would have thought for you, at least they were both OK and lived to tell the tale with no injury, would have thought a hare would be quite heavy? obviously meant it at the time, like you say they could both have been badly hurt, Thank the Lord they weren't, she must have been very hungry, very interesting to see Tabs, Sue.

Thank you Terry for all your kind comments on this series they are appreciated. It was a fantastic scenario with the harrier arriving at full speed and getting straight into the attack, but I have to say the hare didn't seem to be perturbed and simply appeared to try and 'catch' or 'box' the harrier,. Two seperate attacks were carried out in quick succession and it was raining at the time and the subjects were quite away off hence poor quality of the images.
Regards Tab's
