A Grey Heron managed to catch this slippery eel for his lunch, unfortunately for the heron he got away.

Thanks for the coments, I have the shot of the eel out of his mouth a few shots later but this was the most "exciting" one. As to how far away I was, I would guess about 25-30m, maybe a bit more as had to move away slightly to get less in the foreground.

Great pic, eels are often too much for a heron to manage, I've seen one kick off and wrap its tail right round the bird's neck
