Archbishop Sancroft High School under 16 hockey squad traveled to Dereham on Thursday 4th October to compete in the Norfolk Schools County championship round. Having won the South Norfolk element of the competition the girls were in great spirit and ready for the competition. Captained by Kira Wooltorton the girls successfully beat a number of schools in their group round, meaning that they went through to the semi final. After some excellent performances from May Bowden and Laura Davidson who controlled the defence from the back, the girls won this 2-0. In the final ASHS had to compete against Norwich School for the second time in the tournament. After an excellent run- Kira Wooltorton slotted the ball in the back of the net, however the counterparts did exactly the same a minute later. The scores were tied meaning the Norfolk Champions would be decided on penalty flicks. The ASHS girls held their nerve and won 3-2. An excellent result meaning that Archbishop Sancroft High School will go through to compete in the Regional round of the National Schools competition as the best team in Norfolk.
A huge thank you FOTASH (Friends of the Archbishop Sancroft High School) and to W.S. Kilbourn and Son who specialise in new and used Ford Cars for their sponsorship.
