Investing in the future - National Money Week at Cavell Primary and Nursery School
Parents and children at Cavell Primary School and Nursery in Norwich enjoyed yet another ‘Mathemagician Morning’, this time on the theme of ‘Money’, to celebrate National Money Week.
As they say, ‘Money Makes the World Go Round’, although a little bit slower these days, with daily stories of economic woe but Cavell Primary took a more positive approach to get parents involved in helping to educate their children about money.
Deputy Headteachers, David Hopkins and Sarah Adams organised a week filled with money related activities with over 40 parents turning up to join in the fun! It started with a Scavenger Hunt after school the previous day, where parents and children took part in a hunt around the school grounds for money clues and correctly answered sheets were put into a draw to win lots of money games. There was also a Guess the Value of the Copper Coins game, collected in a huge bottle during the week – the nearest guess wins all of the money. Every child also received a Gold Bar! (chocolate)
‘Mathemagican Morning’ started with a ‘Guess the Money Music’ quiz then continued with some advice on how to help teach money at home, leading onto lots of activities around the school including designing a plant pot for Money Maker tomatoes and Money Plants, designing Money Monsters and most enjoyable of all eating a Money Cake, made by the school’s chef.
Tomorrow we will have ‘Guess the Value of the Shopping’, with the nearest guess winning the shopping!
We might not have actually made any money, over the course of Money Week but we are investing in all of our futures….
