On Saturday the 22nd September, cast and crew of “musical zomedy” Zombie Wedding surprised Norwich shoppers by parading in the city centre with a sign inviting to “Support Zombie Marriage”.
This unusual procession allowed the group to chat about Zombie Wedding with the crowd and distribute nearly 1,000 leaflets in two hours.
Producer Alex Youngs, who took part in the parade, comments: “I am really pleased with how the afternoon went. Most people seemed really intrigued by the group and were very enthusiastic when they found out about the musical. After a few hours, we could see people walking with our leaflet in hand, and the name of Zombie Wedding seemed to be getting around.”
The procession started from outside the Forum at 1.30pm and wandered through the city centre, walking down Gentlman’s Walk, London Street and down The Lanes.
Marketing co-ordinator Sabelline Chicot adds: “We’d like to thank the staff of the Forum who let us distribute leaflets on Millennium Plain, and the the owners of hairdressing salon Flint and coffee shop Mustard who let us invade their shops and surprise their customers.”
Zombie Wedding is the brainchild of Norwich writer and composer Daniel Sturman. After a successful run at the New York Fringe Festival in August 2011, Daniel decided to bring it back to the UK and tasked Alex Youngs of xander Productions with finding a local cast and crew for its UK première.
Zombie Wedding will be staged at the Pavilion Theatre in Gorleston on the 18th and 19th October. Tickets for the show are available now from the Pavilion Theatre box office on 01493 662832, or online at www.gorlestonpavilion.co.uk
